Principal's Message

Welcome to another great year at Thompson Middle School!  We can't wait to see everyone on campus this year.  TMS will continue setting high expectations for each student and helping them grow to reach those goals.  We have a variety of clubs and organizations for students to participate in on campus.  It is crucial for students to be involved in at least one club, organization, or athletic team.

Student Incentives—Students earn points by making good grades, having good attendance, and not getting in trouble in classes.  At the end of the year, the top 10 point earners from each grade will win a prize.  We hold random attendance drawings for different items throughout the year.  Students can earn Pride Tickets (positive behavior tickets) in every class daily by behaving according to our campus expectations.  We hold a Pride Ticket drawing twice a month, and six students are selected to receive a reward.  At the end of each six weeks, we draw three names from the Pride Tickets earned in those six weeks, and those students receive a free lunch (from anywhere in Quinlan).

Parents - I need your help reinforcing the importance of completing and turning work in on time.  I also need your students at school daily (unless they are sick)!  We used to lead the district in attendance, and it is time for the attendance banner to return home!  Our campus goal is 96% attendance; last year, we dropped to 93.9%.  We have some work to do to hit our goal!

A little information about myself!  I grew up in Mesquite, about thirty minutes from Quinlan.  I graduated from WMHS in 1995 before moving on to Texas A&M University-Commerce to work on my Bachelor's degree.  After completing my degree, I accepted a position as a history teacher at McDonald Middle School in Mesquite (the same school I attended).  I held several roles/positions while working in Mesquite ISD for nine years.  Then, I left Mesquite ISD to become an assistant principal at TMS in 2009.  After that, I served as an assistant principal for Mr. Tull and Mr. Taylor for four years before becoming the principal at TMS in the spring of 2013.  This school year is my twelfth year as the TMS principal.

My wife of twenty-two years is a dyslexia teacher at Crandall ISD.  We have two sons who are former Ford High School graduates!

Feel free to contact me anytime by email at [email protected] or by phone at 903-356-1500.

I look forward to serving the community and families of Quinlan ISD for many more years to come.

Let's have a great year,
